Crystal Flowers

A top-down view looking into a glass vial or beaker under a purple UV light. Inside the dark blue liquid, several star-shaped, yellow-gold crystalline structures are visible. The crystals look like clusters of thin needles or shards radiating from a center point, glowing brightly against the dark, shadowy interior of the container.

Description
The image shows the crystal growth of an organic salt, the product of a failed synthesis. The goal was to co-crystallize the organic salt with metal halides and study their photophysical properties. However, I ended up with these yellow emissive flower-like crystals of the organic salt alone. I guess, even failed synthetic reactions can be beautiful!
