A Beginning

A microscopic fluorescence image featuring several oval-shaped biological structures against a black background. The structures are primarily a deep, glowing blue with scattered, bright cyan-blue circular nuclei inside. One central structure is prominently outlined by a vibrant, neon-green fluorescent border along its upper edge.

Description
This is an image of a Drosophila egg chamber, marked with fluorescent proteins, illuminating the border cells, follicle cells, and Nurse cells. By studying how the different cells in the egg chamber interact and move with each other, we can apply the mechanisms to similar moving cells, such as cancer metastasis. This photo not only represents a beginning to understanding cellular movement and interactions, but also as a beginning to my career in research at FSU.
