Label
Inter-cat nap-phase
Artist
Giselle Martinez
Description
This piece is a three-layer screen print on patterned paper. It depicts a seemingly generic animal cell. However, on closer inspection, the nucleus has been replaced with a sleeping cat, and a mouse attempts to pass through the plasma membrane. The title is a reference to interphase, where the cell spends most of its time, much like how cats spend most of their time napping.
