Microorganisms Investigating Stromata on Pine Needle

A high-magnification scanning electron microscope (SEM) image in grayscale showing a textured, ridged surface, likely plant tissue, with several deep, circular pores (stomata) at the top. A chain of segmented, spindle-shaped fungal spores or hyphae is draped across the surface, resembling a spindly, organic lattice. Technical data at the bottom indicates a magnification of 1.10k and a 10-micrometer scale bar.

Description

An image of the surface of a pine needle displaying a stroma (hole) on the surface of the needle. A tiny microorganism was captured sneaking one of its long tendrils into the stromata on the surface of the needle. A beautiful example of the synchronicity of life on the microscale.
